Indonesia recorded the 55th avian influenza death Tuesday, after a test shows
a 27-year-old woman who died on Friday in Central Java province was positively
infected by H5N1, according to the health ministry.
The death has put the total fatality of H5N1 virus to 55 out of 72 cases, the
anti-bird flu center of the ministry said.
"Her test result today is that she was positive of bird flu," said an
official of the center.
Indonesia, the hardest hit by the bird flu, has become one of the front lines
in the fighting against the H5N1 virus.
