China yesterday reported the second human case of bird flu in two months.

The woman, identified with a surname Li, in southeast China's Fujian Province, was confirmed to contract the H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus, China Central Television reported, citing the Ministry of Health. Li, 44, a farmer in Jian'ou City, began to suffer symptoms like fever and coughing yesterday. She was undergoing emergency treatment, the CCTV report said. A farmer from Anhui Province who contracted the bird flu was cured in January.
