Feverish woman isolated after trip to Vietnam
18/12/2005 8:10

A Vietnamese woman who got a fever after a recent trip to Vietnam has been isolated at Singapore's Communicable Disease Center (CDC), Channel NewsAsia reported Saturday night.
The 38-year-old woman, who married a Singaporean, went to a clinic near her home on Saturday and was finally transferred to the CDC by ambulance, during which N95 masks and full protective clothing were used.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) is not taking this as a suspected human bird flu case but as a precautionary measure, the report said, adding that results of blood test will be available in a few days.
To guard Singapore against a possible bird flu outbreak or a human flu pandemic, the MOH has demanded family doctors to be vigilant and put appropriate measures in place.
No bird flu case has been found in Singapore so far.
