Two more areas in east Romania have been found with bird flu cases in
poultry, Rompress reported on Tuesday. Local health authorities have
confirmed that the dead domestic birds in Hirsova Town and Seimenii Mici Village
in eastern Romania's Constanta County had the H5 bird flu strain. The county
government has put the two areas under quarantine, and had all the poultry there
culled and local residents vaccinated, the report added. Bird flu has hit
about 40 locations and a small Black Sea resort in Romania since the disease was
first detected in the Danube Delta in October last year. But no human case has
been discovered so far in the country.
