An explosion  in a pharmaceutical and chemical plant in Kuanshan in Shanghai's neighboring Jiangsu Province this morning has killed seven people.

People com reported that the blast killed three people at the scene in the Kangda chemical plant and the other four died in local hospitals.

Fire brigades and policemen have rushed to the scene and an investigations into the explosion is now under way.
