"Unfortunately, what happening is that the Security Council had a meeting and then postponed", Lahoud told reporters before chairing an emergency cabinet meeting.

He noted that the postponement gave Israel extra time to make Lebanon surrender to its conditions, adding that "violence generates terrorism, and this is not the way."

Lahoud vowed not to bend to Israeli pressure, saying "the Lebanese will not surrender."

"Stop violence and arrange a cease-fire, and then after that we'll be ready to discuss all matters," stressed the president.

Israel waged massive air raids and imposed sea blockade on Lebanon in response to rockets attacks by Hizbollah militants who kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others on Wednesday.
