Shanghai Daily news

Shanghai is about to become a quieter city - from June 1, drivers of cars, mopeds and bikes will be banned from blaring horns within the Outer Ring Road.

Drivers caught tooting on any city street face a fine of up to 200 yuan, day or night, Shanghai Public Security Bureau announced yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

The crackdown even extends to police cars, who are banned from using their sirens during the day, except in emergencies.
