Spending on real estate, domestic education and long-term insurance
will become the three top considerations for most Shanghai residents in the
coming one or two years, according to a survey by the Shanghai Academy of Social
Sciences.
Local residents are paying more attention to improving their
living conditions, educational levels and maintaining stability after their
fundamental daily expenses are taken care of.
Shanghainese pay most
attention to improving their living conditions, with average monthly living
costs the second largest expenditure after food, according to the
survey.
Housing consumption is expected to become the largest household
expenditure in the city in the next couple of years.
Spending by the
city's well-educated group exceeded average housing spending in Shanghai,
according to the survey.
