Relocated families have new home
25/12/2003 14:40

Construction of the city's one million square meters of residential properties slate for residents relocating due to urban construction have been completed ahead of schedule, with more than 13,000 families having new homes, the Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
Such residential properties are mainly located at both sides of the city's Outer-Ring-Road, reserved for more than 13,000 families relocating to purchase at lower prices.
The 13,000 families are mainly relocated to pave a way for the city's rail transportation project, green-belt construction and the development work along the both sides of the Huangpu River.
"I have my own home and bed now," said Zhao Yonghu, a five-year-old child, who moved to his new home together with his parents in Pudong District half a month ago.
"Our room is larger than before, and there is a supermarket near our home, which gives us convenience," said Miao Peixiang, Zhao's mother.
"Our old home has a history of 50 years, and we have to share our washroom with our neighbors," Miao said.
Shanghai will continue to enhance the pace of rebuilding old areas, and plan to construct three million square meters of residential properties every year in the coming three years.
