More mid and low-cost properties offered

More mid and low-priced housing properties were being offered at the 15th
Shanghai Real Estate Fair in the Shanghai Exhibition Center yesterday, the
Jiefang Daily reported today. At the fair, housing properties at Songjiang
District were priced on average at 4,300 yuan (US$518). The development of the
Songjiang New City and the University City has attracted many home
buyers. Housing projects at city center, however, remain expensive. A
furnished house on Xizang Road S. sells for between 12,500 and 14,000 yuan per
square meter while ones near Pudong Century Avenue are also priced at more than
12,000 yuan per square meter. Would-be purchasers were dissatisfied that some
real estate developers were reluctant to inform home buyers when their
properties would go on sale. "Many properties are sold via Internet now, but
some are still sold secretly so that developers can sell the quality ones to
familiar clients," complained Wang, a visitor. The four-day home-furnishing
and building material fairs also opened yesterday at the Shanghai Exhibition
Center.
