25/3/2003 17:28

Shanghai plans to expand its marrow bank to contain samples from 100,000 donors in five years, the Shanghai Red Cross Association said yesterday.

The Shanghai Red Cross Association is collecting painting and calligraphy works from now to April 15 and will hold a benefit sale on May 10 to raise funds for the China (Shanghai) Bone Marrow Bank.

To date, the Shanghai Red Cross has received more than 400 works from more than 200 painters and calligraphers.

The China Bone Marrow Bank currently contains some 50,000 samples and Shanghai has 28,000.
