Apartment ownership has become the top issue for many Chinese women,
according to an online survey by www.sina.com.cn.
The survey is a
preparatory activity for a Sina online conference on marriage law and family
finances held to mark International Women's Day on March 8.
By 8.am. March 7,
885 female netizons had participated the survey. The results are as
follows.
Before marriage, the top questions relating to apartment ownership
were:
1. If a couple buys an apartment before marriage, who should register
as the owner? Does it make any difference?(51.2 percent)
2. If a woman's
parents provide some money to help buy the apartment, what procedures should she
follow to protect her investment? (47.6 percent);
During the marriage, the top concern is:
1. What should a buyer pay attention to, when buying an apartment? (50.3
percent)
Women who seeking divorces have these questions:
1. What kinds of
apartments are by law shared by the couple? And what kinds are owned by one of
the spouses? (48.2 percent)
2. How should the ownership of an apartment be
divided when the couple is seeking a divorce? (47.1 percent)
