Shanghai has planned 3,300 hectares of land bases, slated for at least 33
million square meters of budget homes, according to the Shanghai Planning Bureau
yesterday, as cited in today's Youth Post.
In last year and the year before
last, a total of nine million square meters of properties were constructed for
the residents relocating due to urban construction. This year, construction will
start on 10 million square meters of homes for the relocated and another 10
million square meters of mid and low-end properties.
The remaining land will
be developed next year or later for mid and low-priced homes.
Such land bases
are located in Pudong, Minhang, Jiading, Baoshan and Nanhui District. The local
planning department will draw up detailed plans for all the bases, including
residential facilities, transportation, environment and property layouts.
According to the plan, budget homes around the urban area are required to be
close to the city's Outer Ring Road, so they can depend on the mature facilities
in the local central area; those in the suburbs are required to be located at
the new towns, where public service facilities are improved.
