Shanghai Telecom Co Ltd has joined with such overseas firms as Intel,
Coco-Cola and D-link to improve the Internet service platform for its Green
Power Net Cafe chain, the Laodong Daily reported.
The cooperation agreements
signed yesterday include a program for China's 99th official sports
program from China Esport Games (CEG), an environmentally friendly
self-service digital printing system, and a sales program for Coca-Cola products
at the Net Cafes.
Shanghai Telecom set up the Green Power Net Cafe chain in
October 2003 with the first participants of 30 cafes. The chain has expanded to
518, and accounts for 39 percent of Shanghai's total.
Last year, the company
invested nearly 10 million yuan (US$1.2 million) to develop a comprehensive Net
Cafe administration system and install it at all its cafes, as a way of
enhancing its brand image.
