China's largest
telecommunications equipment developer and supplier, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd,
saw a 40 percent jump in sales revenue to 45.3 billion yuan (US$5.4 billion) in
2005, the Shenzhen-based company announced yesterday at the release of its
financial report for the past year. The report, as quoted by today's
Sina.com, indicates Huawei witnessed healthy growth in such businesses as mobile
telecom networks, next generation networks, optical telecoms, data transfer,
specialized software and terminal equipment, though without giving specific
figures for each. While consolidating its business in China, the company has
been successfully developing its overseas businesses with key breakthroughs made
in Europe and Asia. The report shows it has forged cooperation ties with 28
of the world's top 50 telecom operators, including the UK's British Telecom and
Vodafone, Spain's Telefonica, Holland's KPN, Singapore's SingTel, Tailand's AIS
and Brazil's TELEMAR. Huawei has entered 14 developed countries including
Germany, Britain, the United States, Canada, Spain, France and Portugal.
