Can you imagine shopping without carrying bankcards or cash? Well, welcome to
the wireless age and get your handset ready instead.
A Near Field
Communication (NFC) chip will be installed in handsets to enable communication
between mobile phones and payment terminals. One handset can handle the
information of more than ten bank cards, and users can alter their information
via special software.
Mobile phone manufacturers such as Motorola, Samsung
and Nokia have already offered special cell phones with this payment function.
Shopping malls in Pudong have started to renovate their existing POS machines to
accept the new payment form, which will be operated on a trial basis in Pudong
by the end of this year and will be widely used nationwide next year.
For
security reasons, handset users are required to set up several pin-numbers so
others cannot view their information if their handsets are lost or stolen, said
an industry analyst.
