Taiwan electronic manufacturer Mitac International Corporation will market
its Mio series mobile phones on China's mainland starting around the end of the
month under the mainland CECT phone brand, today's sina.com reported.
A
hybrid of Mitac and China Electronics Corporation Telecom (CECT), the CECT Mio
8380 phone will be the Taiwan company's first handset product sold on China's
mainland.
It will hit the Asian Pacific market in June under the brand
Mitac Mio 8380.
After the launch of the CECT phone, Mitac and CECT's
cooperation will expand to research and development in the phone application
area from the existing R&D, manufacturing and promotion.
They plan to
unveil new application programs for the Mio 8380 model in the second half of the
year, including gaming programs.
Dubbed the world's first
all-Chinese-language smart phone, Mio 8380 is based on Microsoft's Smart phone
2002 system with the Intel PX250 200MHZ CPU.
It enables communications,
management, entertainment and Internet surfing functions, and can even download
and play a whole movie if equipped with an SD memory card.
