China Mobile ranks No.1 in business revenues

China Mobile Communications Corporation, the largest mobile
communications operator nationwide, has accounted for nearly 40 percent of the
total business revenues in the domestic telecom market, ranking on the top of
the six major telecom operators in the nation, according to the latest
statistics of the Ministry of Information Technology. According to the
statistics, China Mobile accounted for 37.4 percent of the total business
revenues in the domestic telecom market, with the proportion reaching 31.1
percent for China Telecom, 16.6 percent for China Netcom, 13.4 percent for China
Unicom, 1.5 percent for China Satellite Communications Corp and China Railcom
respectively. Mobile communications and IP phone businesses have gradually
replaced traditional long-distance calls, with mobile communications business
accounting for 28.5 percent of the total long-distance communications business,
IP phones covering 41.4 percent, while the proportion of traditional
long-distance calls down to 30.1 percent. Local calls have accounted for 90.5
percent of the total mobile phone call numbers, the statistics
indicated. Intensified market competition in the domestic telecom market has
brought more benefits and options for Chinese users, said an industry
analyst.
