Siemens target China's 3G market

Siemens Mobile Communication Co Ltd attemped to invest 60 million euro
in China, aiming at promoting the development of a 3G (third generation) mobile
standard TD-SCDMA(time-division synchronous code-division
multiple-access),siting from "Financial Times".ˇˇˇˇXinhuanet.com reported
todyay Siemens Mobile Communication, the communication of the German Siemens
Group Co has already thrown an investment ranging from 120 million to 150
million euro in the development of this new wideless technology. Experiments on
this 3G system are expected to be completed and commercial operation to begin
within the year. Siemens has joined hands with Datang Mobile Communications
Equipment Co Ltd, a domestic company supported by the government in the research
and development of TD-SCDMA. The homegrown TD-SCDMA is a parallel techonology of
the European-led wide band code division multiple access (WCDMA) and the
US-initiated CDMA 2000. All the three are acknowledged by International
Telecommunication Union.
