China Unicom joins hands with Great Wall Broadband Network

The China United Telecommunications Corporation (China Unicom)
announced yesterday to sign all-round strategic cooperative agreement with the
Great Wall Broadband Network Service Co Ltd to take up with the development in
broadband market, eastday.com reported today. China Unicom, the only service
provider in comprehensive telecommunication business and operator in main
telecom network in China, will offer binding broadband services for users, in
cooperation with the Great Wall Broadband Network Service Co Ltd, the largest
and best known broadband telecommunication operator in China. The two
companies will cooperate with domestic Internet Content Providers (ICPs) and
equipment manufacturers to provide comprehensive and various kinds of telecom
and multimedia services to broadband users. "It is a significant step for us
to cooperate with Great Wall Broadband Network, and we can complement each other
in application services, " said Liu Yunjie, Vice President with the China
Unicom. China Unicom excels in IP voice communication and Internet games,
and Great Wall excels in broadband access services, Liu added. Great Wall
Broadband Network excels in network resources, and has offered many content
services for broadband users, such as educational, game, medical and video
services. "Added-value network services are developing quickly, and the
cooperation will provide a brand-new business mode for the broadband industry
development, and we can share both the broadband content and client market from
each other," said Sun Ziqiang, general manager with the Great
Wall.
