Shanghai Telecommunications has launched its first M-Zone shop this
week, the largest M-Zone shop nationwide, www.Eastday.com reported. Shanghai
Telecom, a local branch of the country's largest telecom operator, China
Telecom, hopes the shop will help boost its M-Zone business by building a brand
image aimed at fashion and youth for the service, targeting trendy white-collar
workers and youth. In addition to discounts on a package of voice telecom and
short message services, M-Zone provides promotions for its users. By the end
of this year, local M-Zone users are expected to hit 600,000. At the Shanghai
M-Zone shop, located on fashionable Huaihai Road, customers will be able to
purchase the telecom service as well as view the showcase of the new business
and enjoy entertainment and sports activities. Programs such as fan meetings
and lectures on fashion topics will be held at the shop's club section for its
members. Shanghai Telecom will also hold a charity sale week from today at
the M-Zone shop, during which its M-Zone users will get discounts to buy
handsets and a two-year contract for service. The company will donate 10 percent
of the telecom fees collected for the two years to the Shanghai Charity
Foundation. Shanghai Telecom has more than 7 million users in the
city.
