SPC launches online communication network
9/10/2003 15:09
The standing committee of Shanghai People's Congress held a teleconference
via the newly established "online meeting & feedback network" yesterday,
marking the coming of a new era for remote realtime communication and speedy
feedback between the lawmakers and the grassroots.
Three delegates, He
Jindi representing the educational sector, Zhu Guangping with the cultural
sector and Wu Jianzhong with commerce, talked with Gong Xueping, head of the
standing committee of SPC, right at their homes of different locations in the
city via household terminals - a computer, a microphone and a camera.
Gong, on the other end in the SPC headquarters office, discussed
everything with them, from plans about the education project for the retarded
children and the information-motivated cultivation, to the set-up of public
libraries and the management on real estate properties, face to face on the
screen
With the launch of the online meeting and message leaving system,
the SPC headquarters will manage to keep in touch with delegates on a real time
basis, listening and reacting first-hand to their suggestions and solicitations
from the grassroots.
The network, with state-of-art technology, is also
expected to provide technical support for the government's democratic and
juridical improvements.
