China has developed its first self-patent
three-generation-telecom-technology-based mobile phone in Chongqing, marking a
new era for the country's mobile telecom industry, today's International Finance
News reported. The phone is developed through a combination of the chip and
software radio technologies, according to director of the 3G phone research
team, Professor Zheng Jianhong with Chongqing University of Posts and
Telecommunications. He said the phone, based on the broadband technology,
enables a variety of functions varying from high-speed data transmission to
Internet surfing, digital camera and digital video taking.
