Shanghai Netcom taps local market
2/12/2003 15:13
Shanghai Netcom Corp, the local branch of China's second-biggest telecom
operator, opens its first local business outlet today, joining the competition
in the local telecom market, the Youth Post reported today. The move
indicates that China Netcom' local branch has taken steps to expand its business
and improve after-sale services, said a spokesman with Shanghai Netcom. "We
will open more business outlets in local urban areas in the coming year," the
spokesman said. Shanghai Telecom's tapping into the local market aims to
build its reputation in the city, an industry analyst pointed out. However,
it is hard for the new arrival to compete with Shanghai Telecom, which boasts
186 local business outlets, the analyst said.
