Joint 3G test network to be built
5/4/2004 15:23

Four telecom giants from Beijing and Shanghai will jointly build a test network for TD-SCDMA, the China-developed third-generation telecom standard.
China Putian Corporation, ZTE Corp., Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group and Nortel Networks (China) Limited signed the cooperation agreement over the weekend in Shanghai, today's Sina.com reported.
According to the report, the network will provide a telecom environment to test 3G technologies and enable resource sharing among China's TD-SCDMA Industry Union members, including the four companies involved in the cooperation.
As planned, Datang, developer of the homegrown 3G standard Time Division - Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access, will cooperate with ZTE to build a network for TD-SCDMAMTNET, a core net for the TD-SCDMA technology, in Shanghai.
And it will join hands with China Putian and Nortel to build the same network in Beijing.
