Today, Little Smart subscribers can send or receive short messages to or from
Shanghai Unicom users on a trial basis after the intercommunication service
reached an agreement with Shanghai Mobile users one month ago, the Shanghai
Morning Post reported today. At present, Little Smart users are required to pay
0.08 yuan for each short message sent to others both in the same or different
networks, said a spokesman with Shanghai Telecom yesterday.
Users with
handset number beginning with '130, 131 and 132' can enjoy short messaging
services (SMS) with Little Smart subscribers from today. On November 1, China
Unicom's Shanghai unit increased the fee for sending short messages to users of
different networks, including Little Smart users, to 0.15 yuan (1.8 US cents)
each, up five fen from before.
Shanghai is one of the four cities in China to
conduct a trial operation of inter-company telecommunication services between
China Unicom and Little Smart subscribers. The trial period will end by November
20, at which time the official operation of the program will begin.
As of
October 10, Shanghai Mobile users could send or receive short messages to or
from Little Smart users on a trial basis. More than 95 percent of short messages
have been sent or received successfully to date.
"If you want to send short
messages to Little Smart users, you should add '106021' to their numbers," the
spokesman added.
