Capability: top concern for car buyers
6/8/2003 15:31
The capability of car has become the top consideration for car buyers,
followed by car prices, according to a latest survey, the Beijing Morning Post
reported yesterday. According to the survey, 43.1 percent of respondents
consider the capability of car the top concern in buying cars, 22.1 percent will
consider price first, 15 percent will care the car brand first, 14.3 percent
will buy the car if they are satisfied with the appearance and only 5.5 percent
of interviewees will consider after-sale services first. Car prices became
the top consideration for domestic car buyers two years ago, while currently the
price slump cannot spark a buying spree, said the survey analyst. Price cuts
of up to 20 percent have covered more than 70 domestic car models this year,
which hasn't generated strong interest from car buyers as expected. The
survey also indicated that consumers are not mature enough in car purchase as
most of them haven't understood the importance of the after-sale services, said
the analyst. Compared with foreign countries, China has fewer consumers who
care brand first in buying cars, the analyst said.
