Would you like to have a look at the world's oldest car, or be the
first to know the intelligent transportation network of the future? In two
years, your dreams might come true. Shanghai will invest nearly 340 million
yuan (US$41 million) to build China's largest auto museum at the International
Automobile City in northern Shanghai's Jiading District, according to the
Shanghai International Automobile City Development Co., Ltd. The Shanghai
international auto museum, boasting an area of 11,000 square meters, will start
construction by the end of the year and open to public by 2005. The overall
design plan will be decided this month, with global top-grade exhibition and
technological methods adopted for the entire construction project. The
museum, located on a total floor space of 24,000 square meters inside the Anting
auto expo park, will have many exhibition halls with different themes: auto
history, auto technology, auto brand, and auto arts. Visitors can have a
look at the old-style car models, and at certain exhibition halls can experience
driving a car.
