The use of electronic pegs and the introduction of the night road test
doesn't quell citizens' enthusiasm in obtaining a driving license.
Statistics indicate that till the end of September, over 200,000 citizens have
passed a driving test or are attending driving courses, Jie Fang Daily reported
yesterday. The 131 local driving schools began using the united test database
set issued by the Department of Public Security, from August 1. In order
to restrict unqualified driving coaches, an authorized certification, issued by
the Ministry of Communications, will replace the coach cards now held by over
10,000 coaches. About 40 percent, i.e. around 4,000, coaches already possess
this certification. Most of the examinees have been familiarized with the
electronic pegs in the driving test commencing later this year. The
average pass rate now is 75 percent.
