The number of private cars reached 213,500 in Suzhou last year, an increase
of 51,000 from a year before, topping the list in both the number of vehicles
and the number of new vehicles in Jiangsu Province, according to the Jiangsu
Statistics Bureau, as cited in eastday.com today.
Suzhou's private cars
accounted for 27.3 percent of those in Jiangsu Province, with the 51,000
increase amounting to 26.2 percent of the growth in Jiangsu. The number of
private sedans rose by 43,400, or 53.6 percent in Suzhou last year, three times
the growth of private sedans in the rest of Jiangsu.
Nanjing and Wuxi ranked
second and third in Jiangsu last year in the total number of private cars, with
Nanjing having 126,500 (up 43.4 percent) and Wuxi, 99,700 (up 30.6
percent).
