Mayor Han urges government support for employment and reemployment

Shanghai should
enhance local employment and reemployment, said Mayor Han Zheng on a
fact-finding tour of the Shanghai General Labor Union yesterday
afternoon.
Under the market mechanism, the labor union has significant and
irreplaceable functions, Mayor Han said, adding that social justice should be
maintained when protecting employees' rights.
Local government should
continue to support people who create their own businesses; formulate
regulations on guaranteeing workers' rights; and guide people to have the proper
work ethic, Han stressed. Preferential government policies on employment should
target special groups with difficulties in their lives, he pointed
out.
