Shanghai will offer some 100,000 job opportunities this year, the
Labor Daily reported today.
The new job positions will mainly be offered
by foreign-funded enterprises and non-governmental businesses, in
high-technology industries such as electronics, semiconductors and
computers.
Service positions, such as in sales, logistics, advertising,
tourism, restaurants and hotels, will increase due to opportunities presented by
the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition.
The city will continue to suffer from
a severe shortage of technicians.
It is estimated that 70 percent of the
positions will be filled through open recruitment and competition, and 20
percent through government assignment. Five percent will be subsidized by the
government for people with difficulties finding work, such as laid-off workers
and unemployed middle-aged people. Another five percent will be filled by
individuals opening new private businesses.
