Local university graduates lack team spirit
3/7/2003 16:10

Local graduating university students have strong personal abilities, but lack team spirits, according to a special job recruitment in the city, the Shanghai Morning Post reported yesterday.
A leading job recruiting website - www.zhaopin.com - organized an outdoor experiential learning activity several days ago instead of ordinary interview for 20 human resources managers in banking, consulting, manufacturing and computer industries, with 50 job-hunters selected to take part in the activity.
The 50 candidates include graduating university students of this year and people who have joined the work force one or two years ago.
"The graduating university students can accomplish a task independently, but lack ability in teamwork," said a human resources manager with a local multinational company, surnamed Zhang.
Some students always express their own ideas rather than listen to others' advice in the activity, Zhang said.
Personal ability can be improved after certain training, while team-spirit should be improved by employees themselves, he said.
Job-hunters usually appear very cautious in formal interview, while their instinct reactions will be shown in outdoor activities, said another human resources manager, surnamed Liu.
