A total of 384,400 people hunted jobs in Shanghai in the first seven months of the year, down 1.84 percent from a year before, while 314,500 workers were needed in the local labor market during that period, up 22.37 percent from a year before, the Wenhui Daily reported today.
There was an oversupply of computer operators in the first seven months of the year, with an average of eight job-hunters competing for one job post, while the city is still short of senior computer professionals, according to statistics.
Mid and high-level IT professionals mastering both the hardware and software knowledge have become the hot properties in the local labor market, with project engineers, system engineers and sales engineers proving most popular in the first seven months of the year.
A total of 13,800 administrative staff was needed from January to July this year, while the number of job-hunters reached 86,100, with an average of six people vying for one job post, the statistics indicated.
Shanghai's labor market is short of employees in cargo transport industry, with senior talents mastering import & export trade business, e-commerce and logistics knowledge needed most this year.
The city's service industry can hardly recruit local employees, with the hair-dressing and restaurant sectors short of workers.
