Despite a ban on citywide job fairs for local university graduates, the
university-sponsored job fairs for next year's graduating students will be held
on time, the Shanghai Morning Post reported today. Many employers are
hurrying to promote themselves at local universities, with more than ten
companies crowding into a major university in one week. Shanghai University,
with a large percentage of the local graduates, announced yesterday it had
attracted nearly 300 talent-seeking employers to their campus by the end of the
month. More than 9,400 students will graduate from Shanghai University this
year, with 1,150 post-graduates, 6,760 bachelor-degree holders and 1,569 senior
vocational graduates. "We should take the responsibility of marketing for our
graduates, and both teachers and the students' parents should join in helping
the students into the work force," said Wang Peihua, vice director with the
job-recruitment department of Shanghai
University.
