City to launch job program

Shanghai Labor and Social Security Bureau confirmed it will officially
start an employment program within the year-end, according to today's Shanghai
Morning Post. The program, aimed at providing jobs for local unemployed and
laid-off people, will be fully implemented in the first half of next
year. Twelve local departments have turned in their job planning to the labor
bureau, making available tens of thousands of jobs over three years. The
first positions mainly fall in two fields: One is social administration such as
supervising assistants for traffic, environmental protection, markets,
landscaping and housing rental; And the other covers the public services of
cleaning, nursing, wood maintenance and training for suburban
youths.
