Han: government to assist employment
9/1/2004 16:17

Shanghai kicked off a citywide program on January 8 to create some 100,000 jobs for local laid-off workers and surplus farmers by 2005. Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng addressed at the program-launching ceremony.
Shanghai will create more than 60,000 new jobs for local unemployed workers and surplus farmers this year.
Employment plays a significant role in guaranteeing the local reform and development stability, and the Shanghai Party Committee and Municipal Government is always focusing on employment and reemployment work, Han pointed out.
Employment is a fundamental life assurance for thousands of local families, and helping laid-off workers and surplus families to find a new job can help out a whole family, Mayor Han stressed.
"Helping every citizen to live a happy life can ensure a healthy and coordinated social development," he said.
The program is an important government move to support the people with trouble to find jobs, and all the government departments should make more efforts to enhance local employment, he added.
The whole society should give more support and aid to the reemployed personnel, and the employees covered in the program should do a good job in the new positions to show their values, Mayor Han said.
