'Star-rated' housekeepers debut in city
23/2/2004 16:19

A team of 40 housekeepers with official work certificates and offering quality services will debut in Shanghai by April this year, the Labor Post reported today.
Shanghai and its neighboring areas are short of professional housekeepers, especially those with official work certificates, and local citizens who want to employ such housekeepers have to book several months in advance, said an industry analyst.
"Starting early next month, we will organize the first local professional team of 40 housekeepers to satisfy the market demand," said a spokesman with the human resources exchange service center for small enterprises.
They will not only recruit workers with job certificates and baby-sitting experience, but will also contact local neighborhood committees to recruit local housekeepers between 40 and 50 years old to provide them with free training, the spokesman pointed out, adding that the 40 quality housekeepers will join the work force after one month.
Based on feedback from customers, the housekeepers will earn different star ratings, the spokesman added.
