22/6/2004 16:25
China will take several measures to help domestic university graduates
find jobs, eastday.com reported today. The number of Chinese university
graduates will hit 2.8 million this year, an increase of 680,000 from last year.
In addition, 180,000 university graduates from last year still haven't found
jobs. "China is paying a lot of attention to the tough employment situation
for domestic university graduates and we will adopt the following measures to
solve this problem," said Zheng Silin, Chinese Minister of Labor and Social
Security. * Deepening educational system reforms; restructuring the domestic
labor market and establishing a new employment system which allows the market to
play a guiding role, the government to play a regulating and controlling role,
schools to play an advisory role and both graduates and employers to make their
own choices. * Offering one-stop services to graduates including policy
consulting, professional guidance and data management * Enhancing the
management of services to unemployed university graduates, with those unemployed
for more than half a year after graduation registered with the local
unemployment system; establishing an internship system to help young students
gain more work experience and increase their competitiveness in the job
market.
