Shanghai's first vocational training council was established on November 14
to help the city with vocational training and to improve the quality of local
personnel.
The consulting service covers seven sectors, including automobile,
modern machine manufacturing, information technology, creative design,
logistics, electronic technology and environment.
The committee, comprised of
46 technological experts, includes 10 overseas from the United Kingdom,
Australia, France, Japan, Switzerland and Singapore.
They will provide the
latest information on industry technology and vocational training for the city
to help it meet with the growing demands of economic and industrial
development. They will also develop new jobs as well as new vocational
assessment and appraisal systems to tune the vocational standards with the
fast-growing development. They will give advice and technological support
to help Shanghai set up its public vocational training project.

Zhou Taitong attended yesterday's opening ceremony of the committee and
presented employment certificates to the experts.
