In the hope of creating a good first impression with job interviewers, many university graduates are seeking help from plastic surgery, today's Laodong Daily reported.
According to local plastic surgery hospitals, students accounted for 30 percent of the total number of patients registering for operations this month.
"More than 130 university students registered for operations this month, double the number of a year earlier. Most of the students will graduate next year," said Xu, director with the Shanghai Shiguang Plastic Surgery Hospital.
According to a survey into who has plastic surgery and the reasons they choose to have it, university students account for 34.4 percent of the total, with 60 percent aiming to increase their competitiveness in the job market.
"I don't want to be defeated at the starting line. I expect to leave an excellent impression with interviewers," said a university graduate who has registered for the double-eyelid operation.
Patients require a period of time to recover from the surgery, so it might be too late for next year's university graduates to register, said a local doctor, adding that they should think seriously about having the surgery so they do not miss the best job opportunities.
