Secretaries and translators have become the hottest competitions for online job seekers, according to today's Beijing Daily.
This year every secretarial job on www.chinahr.com, an online recruitment service provider, has received an average of 237 applicants, up from last year's 167, while translators have attracted 135 competitors, compared with last year's 87.
The inflow of foreign companies has increased the job seekers, consultants pointed out.  The requirements have increased, however, as most firms are demanding a university education, fluent English, and good communication skills, with majors in journalism, business and finance preferred.
As well, the requirements for translators have also increased.  A good command of English is now no longer enough; knowledge in a specific professional field is preferred.  This year 7,312 translation positions (including oral and written translation) have been posted on www.chinahr.com.
