Anticipating a shopping spree in the upcoming weeklong Labor Day holiday,
which starts May 1, banks in Shanghai are rushing to unveil new bankcards
catering to varied passenger groups, today's Shanghai Morning Post
reported.
Customized and value added features are the selling points of the
new cards, the report said.
For example, China Merchants Bank has introduced
a new platinum card targeting high-end clients, with a yearly fee of 3,600 yuan
(US$435), while Guangdong Development Bank has joined China Southern Airlines
and Master Card International organization to launch two cards for business
people.
China Communications Bank will soon join with Hongkong and Shanghai
Banking Corporation to unveil a joint card as its proposal has been approved by
the banking authority, the Shanghai Morning Post report said. The reoprt
did not specify the issue date.
