Shanghai Airlines
Co Ltd, the smaller of the two city-based carriers, will add 102 flights in the
upcoming weeklong holiday from May 1 to satisfy the surging demand for travel,
the Shanghai Morning Post reported. Most of the added flights are for the hot
tourism destinations such as Wuyishan (16 flights), Zhajiajie (12 flights),
Guilin (12 flights), Xiamen (14 flights), Xiangfan (eight flights) and Nanchang
(six flights). The rest of the flights are for Mianyang, Yichang, Guiyang,
Haikou and Sanya. The carrier will replace the existing Boeing 737s with the
larger Boeing B767s on the company's solely-operated Shanghai-Phnom Penh
route. Shanghai Airlines' tourism unit, Shanghai Air Holiday, has also beefed
up for the upcoming travel peak, providing a large variety of travel routes such
as to Mt. Huangshan, Guilin and the new Three
Gorges.
