Locals change way of travel

Gu Jia/Shanghai Daily news

Statistics from the local tourism administrations show that admissions to interest spots in Shanghai during the gold week of Labor Day will be almost the same, while the volume of traditional domestic tours will be more or less reduced, reported today's Oriental Morning Post.
Basically, a common agreement has been reached by most travel agencies in the city that admissions to local interest spots, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, during the coming seven-day holiday will remain almost the same as usual.
Changing local preferences towards traveling is greatly impacting on the volume of tourists heading for some traditional domestic scenic spots, however.  More and more are taking the holiday not merely as a great time for traveling, but more as an opportunity for relaxing.
Shanghai Dongmei Aviation Tourism Ltd Co. says that more people now choose international tours or self-driving tours, and many are becoming fond of traveling right after the gold holiday to avoid the huge volumes during Labor Day.
Information from the Shanghai Tourism Tourist Center indicates that the volume of tourists during May 1 to 3 heading for destinations along the Yangtze River delta, such as Hainin, will increase by 20 per cent compared to the same time previous year.
