Passengers planning to leave from Nanjing on April 30 had better travel by bus or air as the train tickets on that day are in short supply, eastday.com reported today.
Passengers were waiting in queues at the ticket sales lounge on the second floor of the Nanjing Railway Station yesterday morning. Many office workers asked for leave to buy train tickets on April 30, but were disappointed to find that there were no tickets available even for standing room.
Most passengers are expecting to leave on April 30 and May 1, so it's hard to get train tickets on these two days, said a spokesman with the Nanjing Railway Station. Moreover, due to the station expansion, only one train has been added from Nanjing to Shanghai, he pointed out, suggesting that passengers should buy railway tickets as soon as possible.
However, there are many air-tickets and bus tickets. It is comparatively easy to add buses if needed, said an industry analyst. There is a surplus of of air-tickets on most routes, with up to 50 percent discounts offered.
