Shanghai's Pudong International Airport will transport 2.5 million tons of
cargo this year, placing it among the world's top 10. Jing Yiming, vice
general manager of Shanghai Airport (Group) Co Ltd, operator of the city's two
airports, spoke yesterday at the first China' Air Logistics Forum held in
Shanghai. He expected the Pudong airport's cargo transport to reach 4.1
million tons by 2010 (on a par with Hong Kong International Airport's 4.09
million tons) and 6 million tons by 2015. In addition to the HK airport, the
other key rivals of Pudong airport will be South Korea's Incheon International
Airport and Japan's Tokyo Narita International Airport, Jing noted.
