Several domestic tour operators will jointly organize the first package tour to Hoh Xil Nature Reserve, China's biggest uninhabited zone in the north of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The journey will begin from Xining, the capital of Qinghai Province, on June 29. Its operators, Guangdong CITS Corporation and a tour company in Qinghai Province, have begun to accept applications for the trips in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. The quota is set at 100 tourists.
Two routes of travel are available. An eight-day trip will cost 7680 yuan (US$929) while a ten-day tour including a visit to Lhasa is priced at 11,300 yuan (US$1,366).
Lying on the borders of Tibet, Qinghai and Xinjiang Provinces, Hoh Xil is a habitat for endangerd wildlife like the Tibetan antelope. This is also the area where "Kekexili: Mountain Patrol", an award winning movie at the Tokyo Film Festival, was shot.
