Domestic travel agencies began to receive bookings for Taiwan tours. However,
for the time being not all mainland tourists can enjoy the tours.
Ctrip, the
country's leading online travel agency, has signed an agreement with ezTravel,
Taiwan's largest tourist website, to promote tourism to Taiwan, today's Youth
Post reported. More than ten itineraries with people traveling on their own are
available on Ctrip.com.
Ctrip has received more than 30 calls concerning the
itineraries. The tours, ranging from six to ten days will allow tourists to live
in at least four-star hotels and enjoy famous scenic spots there, with the
highest price no more than 18,000 yuan (US$2,168).
"Such tours are operated
well by the ezTravel and we have improved them based on the interests and habits
of mainland tourists," said Yang Tao, a spokesman with Ctrip.
However, the
trips are not open to all tourists. Tourists have to hand the required documents
to Taiwan by themselves and children are not allowed to book the tours for the
time being. It is hard to handle such certificates for children, an industry
analyst explained.
