Shortages of air-tickets and hotels have driven up both domestic and overseas tour prices for the upcoming weeklong National Day holiday beginning on October 1, eastday.com reported today.
Due to air-ticket shortages, some domestic tours see large price increases: a six-day package tour to Kunming, Dali and Lijiang is priced at 4,280 yuan (US$528) for the holiday, up 1,420 yuan; an eight-day tour to Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Shangri-la costs 4,780 yuan, up one-quarter, according to Sh-holiday.com, one of the leading online travel service providers.
However, popular itineraries to Hainan Province and Huangshan Mountain will be priced the same as those in the previous National Day holidays, said Li Weimin with the planning department of Shanghai Spring International Travel Service.
As a result of airfare and hotel accommodation price increases, overseas tours will see price increases by an average of 10-15 percent for the holiday, with tours to East Asian countries having the biggest increase of 1,000 yuan on average, said Chen Suiqin, general manager with the outbound department of Shanghai China Travel Service.
Australian government standardization of the tourism market has driven up tour prices from Shanghai to Australia by 700-800 yuan.
